I've been a big fan of H.G.Wells since I first read War of the Worlds four years ago...and beyond that when I saw the movie as a little kid.
If you're not familiar with the book, it was written in the late 1800's. A giant metal cylinder from Mars crashes down on Earth in Britain. Soon heat rays are frying people, and giant mechanical tripods with metal tentacles rise and society eventually falls apart for a while...Its a very creepy story filled with isolation and fear.
This is my rendition of the leathery, bear-sized martians Wells depicted controlling the tripods. I tried to make them most accurate to the description.
oh wow...i never got around to finishing that book...my brother took it when i first started reading it and i think he lost it...bah...but this is awesome
The H.G. Wells Martian is probably one of the most recognised martian designs. The Japanese like to make variations on it. I really love your rendition here!
